Thistle ROC hosted our second ROC Summit: A Conference of Community, Learning, and Connection!

This year’s Summit brought together around 50 participants from ROCs across Colorado for two days of learning, connection, and celebration. And for the first time, we opened the Summit to all ROC residents, not just Board Members. We were thrilled to see residents jump at the opportunity, with participants comprising approximately 60% Board Members and 40% ROC residents.

Throughout the Summit, participants explored a variety of topics designed to strengthen their communities and their leadership, including finances, community engagement, navigating conflict, and a resident panel featuring ROC members sharing their experiences, successes, and lessons learned along the journey of resident ownership.

We also had the opportunity to visit Meadowood Cooperative, where residents showcased their community and the exciting infrastructure improvements, a community garden, and their clubhouse that are helping make Meadowood an even stronger place to call home.

And, of course, we took time to celebrate! Thistle ROC recognized several individuals and communities through our annual awards, highlighting the incredible work being done by ROC leaders and residents across Colorado.

One of the most valuable parts of the Summit continues to be the opportunity for ROC leaders and residents to learn from one another. Every community has its own challenges, successes, and lessons learned, and bringing people together creates a network of support that extends well beyond the Summit itself.

Resident ownership isn’t just about buying the land. It’s about building stronger communities and giving residents the tools, relationships, and confidence to govern them successfully.
